The Overhead Foundation's STEM Tennis Program

The Overhead Foundation's STEM Tennis Wednesday and Saturday Program offers an innovative blend of tennis and education, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for our youth. By utilizing our existing resources, we teach the fundamentals of agriculture, fostering a hands-on learning environment that nurtures both mind and body. Our ultimate goal is to expand this initiative into our After-School Program, running Monday through Friday, to maximize its impact.

Program Highlights

- Agriculture Meets Tennis: Our STEM Tennis program is truly unique, merging the excitement of tennis with the educational benefits of gardening and sustainability. Over five months, students will delve into the world of agriculture, understanding its importance and learning practical skills in gardening and reusability.

- Hands-On Learning: Starting with individual planting pots, our students will get their hands dirty, grooming soil, planting seeds, and nurturing the growth of flowers, plants, and vegetables. This process not only teaches them about plant life cycles but also instills a sense of responsibility and accomplishment.

- Emphasis on Sustainability: We emphasize the importance of recycling and reusability. By using clay court sprinklers for watering and repurposing plastic containers for planting, students learn valuable lessons in environmental stewardship and resource management.

- Community Engagement: We will host informed and enthusiastic guests from around Atlanta who are passionate about agriculture, sustainability, and tennis. These guests will interact with our students, providing insights and inspiration, making the learning process even more enriching and enjoyable.

Future Expansion

We are excited to integrate our STEM Tennis program into the After-School Program, extending our initiatives to five days a week. This expansion will allow us to provide consistent, impactful education alongside tennis training, ensuring our students receive a well-rounded experience.

The Overhead Foundation's STEM Tennis Program is more than just an extracurricular activity; it's a thrilling and impactful way to cultivate young minds and foster a sense of environmental responsibility. By combining the discipline of tennis with the creativity of gardening, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation. Join us as we plant seeds of knowledge and watch our students grow into thoughtful, capable individuals ready to make a difference in the world.
